The Best of Simple Organic, 2010

It’s so important to see where we’ve come from before we look at where we’re going in the future. This first year at Simple Organic has given us an amazing array of helpful and encouraging articles to stimulate us as we step forward toward a more sustainable lifestyle. I encourage you to check out our archives or use our search bar if you’re looking for something specific.

This next month we’ll take a glimpse into the next year here at Simple Organic. Our lineup of contributors for 2011 is going to be first-rate and I’m looking forward to all the great content we’ll be privy to.

Here are a few of our most popular posts from 2010. Each of this just might be what you need to read to fuel one of those “baby steps” in your own life.

I hope these inspire as you continue thinking about your green goals for 2011. Next week we’ll dig more into those goals, starting with revisiting Katie’s suggested list of green goals for your home life.

I hope you all have a great time celebrating the new year this weekend. If you get a chance, be sure to take a moment to ponder Tsh’s Twenty Questions for a New Year’s Reflection.

Happy New Year from Simple Organic!

Green Goals for 2011, Part 1

This month we’re going to be talking setting goals for a greener, more sustainable lifestyle in 2011. We’re going to revisit the great lists that Katie put together earlier this year in February, chock-full of ideas to ignite your goal-setting. We’ll look at Part 2 next week and then reconvene later in the month to continue the conversation.

No matter where you are in your journey of learning to live a more natural, sustainable lifestyle, something on the following list will work for you and your family. I have provided some tips and resources, but know that many of these items will receive more in-depth coverage in the future here on Simple Organic.

Merry Christmas

Happy Christmas Eve, dear readers!

I put together my first little Simple Organic vlog to introduce you to my family and me, and show you a few of our handmade and funky Christmas traditions around our home.

Some of the things I shared in the video were our Surfin’ Santa, our beautiful stockings my mom made, the advent calendar I made from a vintage pattern, my daughter painting a gift bag, and a handpainted ornament we made for her teacher.

We’ve had a rainy week but are looking forward to a sunny Christmas.

We wish you a wonderful weekend and holiday!

Reduce Holiday Waste, Before and After Christmas

Christmas is right around the corner, and some of you may have already had holiday celebrations with friends and family.  I love this time of year, and I think I’m almost as excited as my three year old for Christmas morning, but probably for different reasons.

As wonderful and joyous as our celebrations are, they can also leave us a little stressed and overwhelmed trying to deal with all the cleaning up once the holidays have passed.

There are a few things we can do ahead of time to help make our post-celebration clean ups easier for us and on the earth.  [Read more...]
