From Pinterest to real life: June 2012

It’s that time again… the last Friday of the month means our linky where you can showcase some of the fun things that you’ve taken from your pinboards to reality!

This month I was able to use Pinterest to work toward some of my summer goals. I’ll be continuing to work on those throughout the season but man, it feels good just to accomplish something in this crazy stage of life I’m in.

Summer memories: DIY kids’ souvenir suitcase

Last week I shared about our summer passport for documenting all of our summer fun and today I have a great way to keep track of all your summer memorabilia.

This is the kind of activity that you can make with whatever you have on hand– I made mine with a cereal box and some scrapbook paper but you could also use a shoe box and wrapping paper, for example, if that’s what you have.

The simple idea is a box where your kids can store their collected summer finds– a few shells, leaves, ticket stubs, fishing line, photos, postcards– the possibilities are endless.

At the end of the summer, I think our kids will enjoy looking back through their passport and in their suitcase, remembering all the fun their summer encompassed.

Read on for some photos of how Gigi’s suitcase turned out.

Today I have a simple craft and some cute printables for making an easy summer passport for your kids. Next week, I’ll show you how I also made a cardboard memory suitcase for collecting tangible little souvenirs to go along with the passport.
