A Simpler Season: Review and Giveaway

Written by editor Nicole Bennett of Gidget Goes Home

Well, it”s official. I”ve broken down and busted out a bit of Christmas music and packed my Operation Christmas Child box. Yep, the holidays are officially upon us.

I figure since Thanksgiving is sneaking up on us, all early and whatnot this year, that I might as well get in the spirit a bit early.

I”m hoping that in doing so, extending the season a bit, it will make things seem less rushed. Because try as I may to not wait till the last minute, things always feel rushed for the handmade-minded girl that I am.

If you can at all relate to me, and if you find yourself craving a simpler, more enjoyable holiday season, then I have a treat for you today.

My friend Jessica (of Life as MOM and ) has written a great eBook to get us in the right mindset for yesA Simpler Season.

Announcing the Summer Fun ebook!

This week starts our first official full week of summer! School is out and the kids are ready for some summer fun.

Isn’t that top photo a great shot? It’s so the epitome of summer to me (that’s Gigi and my brother, a few years ago). I have so many fun memories from growing up, and honestly, most of them are from the days of summer; I hope that’s how my kids remember their childhood, too.

I’m excited to share a great free resource with you today, Life Your Way‘s Summer Fun eBook, chock full of ideas (more than 40 recipes, crafts, activities and planning tips, to be exact) to help you make the most of your summer.

It includes my (famous? In my house it is anyway…) Blueberry Honey ice cream recipe and so many other good ideas and recipes. Read on for the PDF download and some more great printables.

Inspiring books: Nurturing Creativity {Review & Giveaway}

All of us editors here at Simple Living Media have a common love for books. We love being able to share (and, whenever possible, give away) those of them that have inspired us in one way or another. Maybe you’ve seen Aimée’s Bite This Book series?

Well, I’ve put together a new category for book reviews here on Simple Homemade where you’ll be able to view the archives at any time if you’re looking for something new to read. And Inspring Books is a new series that will feature a book with some Simple Homemade-type flair (hopefully each month).

The inspring book I’m sharing about today is super special. It’s written by one of my favorite bloggers, Renee Tougas, of FIMBY, and it was literally the perfect book for me, for the season of life I’m in.

Let me tell you a little about Renee’s first ebook, Nurturing Creativity, and also give you a chance to win one of five copies.

Queen for a Day giveaway 2012

This giveaway is now closed.

Welcome to our second annual Queen for a Day giveaway! Today we’ve got six gift baskets full of treats to celebrate the mom in your life (maybe that’s you!), just in time for Mother’s Day on May 13.

I’m extra thankful for my own mother this year, and beyond blessed by the other amazing mothers in my life, such as my mother-in-law, sisters-in-law and all the wonderful mama friends I know. Being a mom is the most difficult yet rewarding and fulfilling job out there in my opinion.

This week, the six blogs at SLM (you have seen Simple Design, right?) are celebrating mamas by blessing six of them with a gift basket full of goodies! Each item we’re showcasing would make a fabulous Mother’s Day gift for the mom in your life—and most are around the $20-$50 range.

Yay moms! Read on to find out what’s in the Simple Homemade gift basket and how one lucky reader will it all.
