From Pinterest to real life: June 2012

It”s that time again… the last Friday of the month means our linky where you can showcase some of the fun things that you”ve taken from your pinboards to reality!

This month I was able to use Pinterest to work toward some of my summer goals. I”ll be continuing to work on those throughout the season but man, it feels good just to accomplish something in this crazy stage of life I”m in.

I”m also sharing a few new ways to enhance my Pinterest experience.

As for that top photo, I wanted a printable calendar where I could keep track of the fun things we do this summer. A simple Pinterest search brought me to that one and I love it!

Yesterday David and I celebrated nine years of marriage (!!) and tonight we get to go out for a date night! I love E.E. Cummings” poetry so when I saw this print on Pinterest it inspired me to create something for my love. I”ll have to show you the finished product later though, after I give it to him. It also inspired me to check out some E.E. Cummings poetry from the library!

Here”s what else I made this month.

Mason jars in bathroom

I”ve been loving all the mason jar ideas I”ve seen on Pinterest. I didn”t want to create something I”d need to hang on the wall, such

as this one, so I just personalized some jars to go in my kids” medicine cabinet. I simply used matte mod podge to give these jars a little flair and to secure their little name tags I made (just scrapbook paper with a sticker).

Homemade deodorant

I”ve been using this for a few days now and so far I really like it! This was one of my summer goals so I”m feeling good to have finally gone for it. There are lots of recipes floating around; I used this one.

I didn”t try out many new recipes this month, but I did enjoy Martha”s Creamy Cauliflower and Greens soup. I love blended soups and this one was the perfect solution to a CSA box including cauliflower and collard greens.

A few new ways I”m using Pinterest

Finished projects— I started a couple of new boards to further organize things. So as I make and do various things, I”ll move those to my Made and Did board. Similarly, I”ll be moving tried and true recipes to my Cooked, Baked & Enjoyed board.

Wish lists— I decided to start some wish list boards, one for me and and one for the kids, so I know what to ask for when family members want gift ideas.

Magazine finds— I used to rip pages out of magazines, but now I”m just snapping photos with my phone. Then, I search Pinterest and so far I”ve always found what I was looking for, already pinned, and I can just repin it to the board where I want to archive it. Such a better way to keep track of things (less clutter!) and then I can pass on my magazines to friends without pages torn out, too.

Have you found any new ways that Pinterest is working for you? I look forward to seeing what ideas and projects get linked up this month!

You can tweet your projects or link up on Instagram, too!

  1. I’ve yet to do a Pinterest project, and my pin count is in the mind hundreds-ha ha! I have tried some recipes though, that counts, right :)?

  2. I find that lately I’m doing something from my boards about once a week, which is probably too often! This week it was a sweet summer tote, and it made me want to tackle some of my other projects!

  3. How do you move pins from one board to another? And Happy Anniversary! :)

    • If you click on a pin there is an “edit” button. Then once you’re on the edit page you can move it to a different board.

      And thanks!! :)

  4. Pinterest has been a great recipe book/file for me. I love seeing photos and clicking on a recipe and having it handy on my laptop when preparing a meal.

I, too, love the E. E. Cummings print! Happy Anniversary! And I love all your tips and ideas to use what we pin.

Thanks for the inspiration and nudge to actually “do” something with all the goodness I’ve pinned. I’ve got a WHOLE MONTH now to get some projects done! What a great goal!!
