Even though the season for making New Year’s resolutions has come to an end, it’s never too late to begin making goals. Beginning next week, we will look at green goal-setting in two different parts of our lives: personal life and home life.
Green goal-setting in our personal life includes:
- Sustainable nutrition
- Eating locally
- Health and beauty products
- Feminine hygiene
- Natural baby care
- Clothing
Green goal-setting in our home life includes:
- Cleaning products
- Shopping bags
- Light bulbs
- Recycling
- Plastics
- Paper usage
- Home energy use
- Energy-efficient appliances
- Toys
- Gardening
- Vehicles and transportation
This Monday, we’ll get personal. And the following week, we’ll take a look at the rest of it. In the meantime, look over the lists and be thinking about one area in each category where you’d like to make a change. Just one! And then think about what else you might like to do before the end of the year. We’ll set some goals together, and keep track of our progress throughout the coming months.
Think there’s something missing from my lists? What changes are you interested in making?

I’m looking forward to next week! We do a lot of green things in our home, but similar to my life in general, it is a bit scattered and unorganized. I’m looking forward to setting some specific goals!

So looking forward to this! Thanks!
I’m excited to set some goals in the clothing department. That’s one area I haven’t even come close to addressing.

Looking forward to this!! I’ve actually been starting my goals and project list for the year, so this fits right in!
Going a bit more planet friendly (and friendlier to myself, let’s face it) is the only resolution I’ve kept. Excited about the weeks to come and the learning to be done.
Looking forward to this! I’m working on our diets but as for the clothing … nope, still have a long way to go (though we do buy a lot of 2nd hand) and I know we could step it up in our recycling efforts!
Excited to be taking this journey with you and looking forward to this series.

This is wonderful! It’s a great feeling to notice the areas where I’ve already made great strides. And, quite helpful to see the areas where I still need to work.
I would love for you to get more into beauty products, Katie! This is the one area I feel a little behind on… Do share your wisdom.
What a great list! I’m having a hard time convincing my husband on things like shampoo and household cleaners but I’m working on it. He’ll eventually get tired of my nagging:)

There is room for improvement in all of these categories in our household…Looking forward to devouring SO and everything you bring, Katie!
We’re starting with eating locally and sourcing local stuff.

Let’s see…for me in the personal area it HAS to be clothing. I always keep an eye out at thrift store for most of our clothing, but when I do buy things new I don’t even put a thought to where the item was made or what it is made of…lots to work on there. But as far as home keeping, I would like to get rid of most of our plastic and use glass more now that my boys are getting older and I don’t have to worry so much about them dropping things. Looking forward to working toward a goal!!!
I like this. I am going to post it on my Cafe Mom Group Green Earth Green Home. I welcome you and anyone one else with green tips to share them there!

Thanks.
My green goal has become to teach my in-laws that I don’t like waste! They’re terrible at disposables, and I want them to understand the impact we have on our earth.
Katie
Can’t wait for more!
