It's time to celebrate

Today marks a special day for our family– Brody”s second birthday!

We”ve been so blessed by this little guy every since he joined our family on April 10th, 2010. As most of you know, we adopted him; I spoke about this on my recent appearance on Tsh”s podcast, and today I thought I”d share a little bit more about our son.

Brody joined our family when he was four days old; it was then that we brought him home from the hospital.

He was super tiny– sometimes it”s hard to believe he was only six pounds, four ounces because he has become such a big guy!

He are a few favorite shots of our adorable little man.

We love him so much and love watching him interact with his sisters.

If you”d like to learn more about our open adoption (including some info on adoption finances) you can listen to the podcast, or you can also read my adoption journal and our journey toward deciding to adopt on my personal blog.

We”re celebrating the big #2 tonight with breakfast for dinner and a family movie night, and then heading out to a baseball game with more family tomorrow. The perfect way to celebrate for our little guy.

I also wanted to wish you all a very happy Easter weekend, as we reflect on Good Friday and celebrate the Good News of Resurrection Sunday!

  1. He’s gorgeous. Does he have a different ethnicity in him? His gorgeous tan skin reminds me of my son (I’m a redhead, but married to an Italian, and birthed a small version of my hubby with the olive skin & dark hair!).

    Happy birthday Brody!

  2. Happy Birthday, Brody!

Breakfast for dinner – one of my favorites! :-)

  3. Hooray for birthdays! We’re gearing up to celebrate Elijah’s next week, too!

  4. Nicole, after reading your journey to deciding to adopt, I so wish we could get together for coffee! I’m in such a similar place. One biological child (age almost 2), a medical condition that precludes a second pregnancy (at least for the foreseeable future and possibly forever) and a deep desire for more kids. My husband and I used to joke about the 1o kids we would have. Like you, we are feeling more and more led to adoption, but wow, it is intimidating! Thanks for sharing your story.

    • I would love to get together for coffee! :) Feel free to email me with any questions (there’s a contact form under the “About” menu). I love chatting about the whole thing.
