Queen for a Day giveaway 2012

This giveaway is now closed.

Welcome to our second annual Queen for a Day giveaway! Today we’ve got six gift baskets full of treats to celebrate the mom in your life (maybe that’s you!), just in time for Mother’s Day on May 13.

I’m extra thankful for my own mother this year, and beyond blessed by the other amazing mothers in my life, such as my mother-in-law, sisters-in-law and all the wonderful mama friends I know. Being a mom is the most difficult yet rewarding and fulfilling job out there in my opinion.

This week, the six blogs at SLM (you have seen Simple Design, right?) are celebrating mamas by blessing six of them with a gift basket full of goodies! Each item we’re showcasing would make a fabulous Mother’s Day gift for the mom in your life—and most are around the $20-$50 range.

Yay moms! Read on to find out what’s in the Simple Homemade gift basket and how one lucky reader will it all.

1. Necklace from Funky Vintage Lovely

April at Funky Vintage Lovely sent me one of her new You Are My Anchor necklaces in coral, and I just adore it. It’s from her new spring/summer Sail Away collection which I might add is just full of adorably nautical and summery pieces.

The necklace even comes wrapped up in a cute box! Now I have to decide… keep it for myself or give it to my mom, who is definitely an anchor in my life.

April is including one You Are My Anchor necklace in the Simple Homemade Queen for a Day gift basket!

Between now and May 13, you can use the code SIMPLE for 10% off your gift purchase.

2. Lotion Bars & Soap from MadeOn

I can’t say enough good things about the hard lotion from MadeOn. I admit thinking it sounded strange when I first heard the concept, but as soon as I tried it out on my dry hands, I was a convert. The Au Chocolat is my favorite flavor of hard lotion bar and Peppermint is my favorite flavored lip balm.

This year Renee went and sent me another dreamy product, her Coffee goat milk soap. It’s perfect for the kitchen where it will remove even the scent of garlic!

Renee is including one Au Chocolat gift pack (1 pocket .71 oz Au Chocolat lotion bar, 1 peppermint lip balm, in small muslin tote) and one Coffee goat milk soap in the Simple Homemade Queen for a Day gift basket!

Between now and May 5, you can use the code SLM2012 for 10% off your gift purchase.

3. Amanda Soule’s The Rhythm of Family

Amanda Soule’s blog, SouleMama is one of the few I read regularly these days. Her latest book, The Rhythm of Family, which she wrote with her husband, is just as much of a treat as her previous two books and the new magazine she edits, Taproot.

Everything Amanda writes inspires me with the beauty of the simple, full-of-love, embrace-the-seasons lifestyle she lives with her family. I look forward to slowly taking in this book, reading it through the seasons as it was written.

Amanda is including one copy of The Rhythm of Family in the Simple Homemade Queen for a Day gift basket!

4. Joy the Baker Cookbook

Joy Wilson is another one of my all-time favorite bloggers and her new book, Joy the Baker Cookbook: 100 Simple and Comforting Recipes, is bound to be a favorite in my home as well. I’ve yet to find a Joy the Baker recipe I haven’t enjoyed, and to be honest, I think I will eventually make almost every single recipe in this book (we’ve already enjoyed the Oatmeal Cookie Pancakes, Peanut Butter Bacon Cookies and Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies and my dad even tried his hand at her kettle corn recipe!).

The recipes all look mouth-watering, and her witty narrative and lovely photography just make her cookbook that much more appealing.

Joy is including one copy of her cookbook in the Simple Homemade Queen for a Day gift basket!

5. Burlap Clutch from Arteesta

Two things I love? Repurposing and coffee. This adorable clutch, hand-sewn by my dear real-life friend Krista of the new Etsy shop Arteesta, features both of these things with its cotton fabric and repurposed coffee sack burlap.

Thanks to the burlap from her coffee roaster friends, Krista has developed this happy little clutch, and picked out a fabric that she knew would make me smile. It’s just the right size for a few essentials and I think it will make you or your mama/mama-friend smile as well!

Krista is including one Casual Foldover Clutch in the Simple Homemade Queen for a Day gift basket!

Between now and the end of May, you can use the code queen4aday for 10% off your gift purchase.

6. Le Creuset’s Cafe Collection

By far the best way to drink coffee is by way of a French press, and this enameled stoneware French press by Le Creuset is the most beautiful one I’ve ever seen. Pair it with these stunning red cappuccino cups, saucers and teaspoons and you have a collection that is sure to please any coffee-lover.

My daughter and I have already enjoyed a sweet afternoon tea/coffee together and I look forward to serving friends and family for years to come with this wonderful set.

Le Creuset is including one red French press and six each of their cappuccino cups, saucers and beverage spoons in the Simple Homemade Queen for a Day gift basket!
